2024 Zp6 grinder - ZP6 alternative. Hi pour over hive-mind. I’m looking to buy a hand grinder to use exclusively for pour overs (I’m keeping my niche for espresso and aeropress only) and wondered what people would recommend. I missed the ZP6 band wagon and with 1zpresso not planning any further production runs (or indeed any other purely pour over focussed ...

Reportedly, the JX is faster at grinding a dose than the Wilfa Uniform, the ZP6 offers better clarity than anything short of the Ode w/ SSP, and the M47 is competitive in the cup with conical espresso grinders that cost well over $1000.. Zp6 grinder

Yeah, a grinder like the ZP6 will make drawdowns a lot faster compared to a Hario Slim. Just to add to this: since you're still a beginner, don't be afraid to start coarse and progressively going finer until things tastes worse. I find easier to understand and navigate starting coarser than the opposite. The ZP6 Special features a unique 6-sided burr set, a design previously seen in 1Zpresso’s Js, Ks, and Z Pro models. These burrs are engineered for tighter alignment and fewer fines, contributing to the grinder’s exceptional performance in filter coffee. Grinding exclusively for use with an Orea so far. Right now at 4 for coffee from Thailand, was at 5 for an Ethiopian coffee last week, and as low as 3.5 for a Mexican coffee a couple weeks ago. Mine is set around 5 I am using Ethiopian Hambela beans, darkly roasted for the V60 and the water temperature on 86.I own a ZP6 and Odev2 with SSP MP ( haven’t tried the gen 2 burrs) SSP offers more clarity with less body But don’t get me wrong, ZP6 can get you really clean cups with high clarity. It just depends on your point of reference. I used JX for 2+ years so the switch to ZP6 was actually quite stark. It's a good grinder but ZP6 vs. Ek43 you would definitely be able to tell a difference imo. There will be a difference for sure, but one is always never better than the other. On some beans and recipe, ZP6 will be better than EK43 and vice versa. If you're considering Pietro, even an exhaustive comparison between MP, Pietro and ZP6 showed that ...ZP6 Special Espresso Grinder JE-Plus Grinder The classic 1Zpresso espresso grinder – JE-Plus grinder features a coated-burr design and a magnetic catch-cup design. Put back into production by special request, the 1Zpresso ZP6 is a sought-after pour-over grinder, catering to specialty coffee enthusiasts, seeking high-clarity cups. The 1Zpresso ZP6 has an external adjustment system with 9 numbers, and 90 clicks per rotation. The 1zpresso ZP6 (discontinued) is told to be the grinder with best grind quality (aka narrower particle distribution) - but 1zpresso claims its clean flavor profile isn’t preferred for many people, so they prioritize the K series which offers a more rounded flavor profile. K series is up there in flavor profile with Comandante, which prior ...I often use a feld47 for filter, which produces a very balanced cup (far better than my niche anyway). The zp6 has definitely surpassed those two grinders, and I think the biggest pleasant surprise of the ZP6 is that it has been shockingly forgiving. Range of brew times, ratios, grind settings and it's hard to make a "bad" cup.I was looking for a hand grinder that would give me good pour-overs and this is IT. Having the versatility to do a different espresso profile is also extremely worth it IMO, so the ZP6 loses to this one. If there’s ever a zp6 pro max ultra, with all the bells and whistles this one has, it might be a different story. The 1Zpresso K-Ultra is a grinder that marries precision with versatility. The external adjustment mechanism offers 100 clicks per rotation, each click corresponding to a 20-micron change. The external adjustment dial adds to a fantastic UX and workflow with the K-Ultra. Stunningly ConsistentZP6 Special is primarily designed for pour-overs, featuring a burr that produces remarkably consistent grinds. The tutorial shows how to disassemble and reassemble the grinder for cleaning. It is an external adjustment version, and it works on X-Pro S, X-Ultra, K-Pro, K-Plus, J-Max S, K-Max, ZP6 Special & K-Ultra grinders.Something with flat burrs and clarity focused is really the only alternative to the zp6. A 64mm burrset like the SSP MP’s housed in a Fellow Ode, Turin df64, or Lagom p64 is your cheapest option for an electric upgrade. Attach an electric screwdriver to where the handle attaches to your Z6 and “drill”.I haven't tried the K series but 1zpresso mentions it's a versatile grinder for both espresso and filter. ZP6 is an exclusively only filter grinder going to clarity, I would guess Kseries will be similar to a comandante with more sweetness in the cup and does better with medium/dark roasts. For clarity purposes, I'm looking to potentially upgrade from a Lido 3 & Pharos 2.0 for a brew only grinder. The options I'm considering are a ZP6, C40, or an Ode Gen 2. The ZP6 is attractive due to price but I'm wondering if I would even notice a big difference compared to my lido or if I would have to jump to flats to really notice.1Zpresso X Series Manual Coffee Grinder X-Pro Grinder The X-Pro grinder boasts a sleek and compact design, making it effortless to grind coffee. Idc what people or reviewers claim, I own both, taste both on almost a daily basis. The C40 is superior to me. On whether its better than the JX Pro, yes it is, but like I said, above a certain amount, its not worth it. I paid USD140 for the ZP6, so to me it was a good deal.If so, I'll nominate the Mahlkonig Kenia. A bulk grinder that works amazingly well for single dosing and whose 65 mm burrs were shared with the Guatemala Lab, and are optimal for brewed coffee of all types - pourover, siphon, Aeropress, batch brew, French Press, etc.Lance Hedrick just confirmed that he developed the ProBrew burrs for PIETRO and all the people tasted prefer it over ZP6 and Ode with SSP burrs 🤔 . ... Just like zp6, it’s a good grinder , but it’s definitely not the best grinder in the world like he said.On this page for K-series and ZP6 it says "If the red dot can still pass #0, loosen the adjustment dial a little and repeat Step 2 until the red dot aligns with #0" I take that to mean, that zero point for those grinders should be full burr lock.. I have googled a few times but haven't found much good actually comparing them. But I did figure out that Lance's review of all the 1zpresso grinders had the zp6 special while his first was the normal zp6. It seems like the zp6 special is maybe not *quite* as good, but still the best pour-over hand grinder for a high-clarity cup. I own a K-Plus, ZP6, and I previously owned a K4 (same grinder as K6 with espresso-focused burr). If value is high on your priority list - K6 without a doubt. 1ZP build quality is a little better for sure, but the K6 a really nice grinder for $96. The color of the X Ultra is a darker "jet black" compared to the "Iron Gray" of the ZP6 and actually makes seeing ...Niche is said to have a very wide sweetspot, ZP6 has more narrow particle distribution whick creates different flavor profile. The grinder can be clean with a dry brush and an air blower. This post offers quick overviews of all the 1Zpresso manual coffee grinder, including the Q2 S, J, ZP6 Special, JE-Plus, J-Ultra, X-Pro S, X-Ultra, JX-Pro S, and K-Ultra grinder. Each grinder has its own unique advantages for various brewing methods. In a Lance Hedrick video, he stated the Zp6 has 3 bearings holding the shaft steady. I would want to confirm it from another source since 3 bearings are not normal in manual grinders but if he is right that the ZP6 has 3 bearing connections on the shaft, then the ZP6 is likely more stable as the X-Pro is listed as two bearings.I haven't tried the K series but 1zpresso mentions it's a versatile grinder for both espresso and filter. ZP6 is an exclusively only filter grinder going to clarity, I would guess Kseries will be similar to a comandante with more sweetness in the cup and does better with medium/dark roasts. I own a K-Plus, ZP6, and I previously owned a K4 (same grinder as K6 with espresso-focused burr). If value is high on your priority list - K6 without a doubt. 1ZP build quality is a little better for sure, but the K6 a really nice grinder for $96. I personally think the hype around ZP6 "clarity" has been blown a little out of proportion. I am very curious to read more about the ZP6 (seems more people will have one by the end of the month.) I just bought the fellow gen 2 grinder but would like a new handheld grinder (for traveling and visiting friends) instead of my jx pro since I am not into making espresso.ZP6 is optimized for that. X-Pro brings out more of that body that suits people who love medium or full city roasts all the way to French dark roasts. If you want an all around grinder, it’s no brainer to choose the X-Pro since ZP6 is not fine enough to do standard 9-bar 1:2 espresso shots.1Zpresso ZP6 Manual Coffee Grinder is a world champion grinder, it was used by Carlos Medina of Chile (who was coached by our own Ply) to win the World Brewers Cup Champion 2023 in Athens, Greece. This grinder is specifically made to bring out the highest clarity of flavours in your pour-over brew. X-Pro Pros: external adjustment, good value. X-Pro cons: threaded catch cup, slower than 48mm options. ZP6 Pros: excellent grind quality, travel case included. ZP6 cons: threaded catch cup, not espresso capable, getting pricey. K-series Pros: flexible configuration and colors, espresso or filter capable, travel case included. The ZP6 has no magnetic catch cup, it's screwed and a tad smaller in diameter. They might make the grinder a tad bigger or add a magnetic catch cup as well in the future. In the end, it comes down to preference. Some people love magnetic catch cups, some people hate them. The build quality regarding 1zpresso is awesome in general btw.1Zpresso ZP6 Special: The ZP6 is back - Page 8. The patent is borderline ridiculous as you can easily find decades old grinder that far predates any of these who uses a similar cylinder design a design that probably can be dated back centuries, even the handle and burr geometry are not really new. But it's so classic, Etzinger is also heavily ...I haven't tried the K series but 1zpresso mentions it's a versatile grinder for both espresso and filter. The point I was trying to make is that it's never a bad idea to buy a really good grinder to begin with. I just find it best to buy a grinder based around your taste. If you prefer bright, clear, and acidic then the ZP6 is probably great. With the ZP6 burr, this grinder is designed to specifically bring out the best clarity in pour over coffee by producing a stunningly consistent grind. For example, I have a Timemore C2 Max that I got to try out hand grinders. It's perfectly fine and cost $70. The ZP6 is $200, barely 3x the price and in real terms, the difference is only $130. The 1zpresso ZP6 (discontinued) is told to be the grinder with best grind quality (aka narrower particle distribution) - but 1zpresso claims its clean flavor profile isn’t preferred for many people, so they prioritize the K series which offers a more rounded flavor profile. Haven’t tried the Pietro / SSP MP but I own a Wilfa Uniform (58mm Mazzer flat burrs) The ZP6 has visibly less fines than the Uniform. This contributes to weaker body, ability to push higher extractions etc. Wilfa gives me more sweetness actually.Grinder Type: Stainless steel burrs | Capacity: 15 to 20 grams | Dimensions: 5.7 x 6.3 x 1.8 inches | Weight: 1.02 pounds | Warranty: 1 year. Final Verdict. For a sturdy and attractive manual coffee grinder that holds up to 50 grams of beans and 100 grams of grounds, consider our top pick: the Hario Skerton Plus.External Adjustment Design – K-Pro & K-Plus & J-Max & K-Max & ZP6 Special & X-Pro S & K-Ultra; All the 1Zpresso grinders are able to be dismantled without any tools and allow thorough cleanliness and maintenance lacking the need to re-calibrate the burr. Rub happens from 0-8ish clicks. Flicked an email off to 1Zpresso about it so we'll see what happens! Looks like I won't be selling my Red Clix Comandante just yet. Response from 1Z regarding burr rub:With the ZP6 burr, this grinder is designed to specifically bring out the best clarity in pour over coffee by producing a stunningly consistent grind. Comfortable grip, easy to grind and good weight. - Curved handle lever and ball knob for ease of handle. - Hexagonal 48mm stainless steel burr. The ZP6 is a conical burr grinder, which means it will never be able to grind as unimodally as a large flat burr grinder. Large, unimodal flat burr grinders are the same as taking the ZP6 and turning it's clarity up to 1000, yet hundreds of people here use them every day to make pour overs with mind blowing clarity and complexity, just with ...Consensus would be the ZP6 if you don’t mind hand grinding. Personally, I think it’s really hard to beat the SSP 64mm cast burrs. I’ve got them in an Ode and think they’re quite a bit better than Ode stock burrs, SSP multipurpose burrs, or the Vario 54mm steel burrs. 5. Some other ramblings: - This grinder in my opinion is the best choice for a filter coffee focused hand grinder from a mix of price, grind quality, and ergonomics. - I still wish this was cheaper.About Press Copyright Contact us Creators Advertise Developers Terms Privacy Policy & Safety How YouTube works Test new features NFL Sunday Ticket Press Copyright ...1Zpresso Manual Coffee Grinder Store Home Page. 1Zpresso Manual Coffee Grinder Store Home Page.
